About the Author

In the course of writing this book, Jane. S. Gabin visited Paris eight times, learned to read French, and became an expert at taking the Metro. Jane is an experienced teacher and educational counselor, working at high schools, universities, and in lifelong learning. Most recently, she has taught at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Duke University.

 

A native of New York City, Jane earned her earned her B.A. at Queens College (CUNY) and her Ph.D. in English from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An independent scholar, she has participated in numerous academic conferences and lectured extensively in the US and abroad.

Jane is a member of the Higher Educations Consultants Association, the Southern Association for College Admissions Counseling, the Victorian Society of New York, the Association for Jewish Studies, and the Alliance Française.

She has published three books with university presses, two on nineteenth-century expatriate American women and one on the musical career of Southern poet Sidney Lanier. The Paris Photo is her first novel.
